Anambra Police Arrested A Kidnapper in Extortion Scandal Linked to IPOB Claims

 

The Nigerian police force of Anambra state has arrested a 32- year old man, By name Chukwuma Obi, from umuagu village, Aguata Local Government, for his involvement in kidnapping and extortion activities in the state.

The public relations officer of the police force in the state, Tochukwu Ikena, says that Obi was arrested by operatives from the Anti-Cultism Squad in Enugu-Ukwu, Njike Local Government.

Chukwuma Obi demanded a sum of N1.2 million from his victim, with the treat of abducting and claiming to be a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The victim said that he received a threatening message from Obi, who insisted the ransom be paid into a specific account to avoid being kidnapped.

Chukwuma Obi confessed to the police force for the crime and cooperating with the police in getting other members of his crime network in the state.

The state Cmmissioner of Police, Nnaghe Obono Itam strengthened the commitment of the Police Force to deliver justice and encourage citizens to report any suspicious activity to the police station.
