BOXING
This
is a game of combat that involves two opponent fighting with hands, by throwing
punches according to laid down rules and regulations on a boxing ring. Boxing
is an interesting martial art. Many people take boxing as a career and they
make a lot from it. In the act of self defense boxing is one of the helping
security skills. Boxing is not restricted to anybody or organisations, it is
for everybody who has interest in it. The security agencies are trained
physical combat skill which among those skill boxing is the most ranked in all.
Boxing is not hard is very easy to learn and master. One need a good coach to
train and learn the necessary skills with consistency. It is a martial art for

CHARACTERISTICS
OF BOXING
To be a
good boxer one need regular training to be physically and mentally fit. A
fighter must learn to be endurance to fight many rounds. some characteristics a
boxer need to be good at are:
QUICKNESS
This
is the ability to think, move and respond very fast during fight on the ring. A
boxer need to train himself on his speed, agility, reflexes and reaction time.
Ways one can train to be quick in boxing are: regular exercises, good training,
regular practice, rest and good nutrition. A boxer who is not quick or fast on
the ring is likely to be hurt badly every time.
ACCURACY
A
fighter need to be accurate in throwing punches because a missed punch is a
chance to your opponent. A boxer need punching accuracy to be able to hit in
order to weaken his opponent. One can train to be accurate through regular
punching training. Punching accuracy is very important.
DEFENSE
This is a good part a fighter need. As a boxer
you must defend your self from the heavy punches of your opponent by blocking.
You can do this through studying and understanding all the movement of your
opponent.
COURAGE
Fighting
is not easy it required courage to face an opponent with the same aim of
winning. To have courage is very important to a fighter, to face an opponent who
is ready to hit.
DISCIPLINE
This
is ability to keep rules, principles, and standard during a fight. A fighter
need discipline on things he does in and outside the ring. A boxer must be
focus and organised.
RULES
AND REGULATIONS OF BOXING

Boxing matches
are fought in a ring

In boxing fighter
are divided according to weight classes to ensure fairness and safety of the
competitors.

Boxers are not allowed to hit opponent with
head, elbow and forearm.
·
Boxers must wear
protectives like gloves, mouth guard.
·
Knockout is when
a fighter is unable to continue fighting after being knock down by his
opponent
·
A boxing match
consist of three (3) minutes round and one-minute rest between rounds during
match.
·
Knockdown is when
a fighter is knocked down by his opponent and touching canvas with any part of his
body instead of his feet. The fighter will be given a ten second count to stand
back up to continue.

There must be a
referee to ensure safety and make sure boxers follow rules and regulations.
·
Judges score
fighters according to number of clean punches.

deducted for rules violations
